Perfect Relaxing Getaway
We booked this property not actually realizing it was directly on North Padre Island, which we have always wanted to experience. North Padre is such a breath of fresh air - relaxing vibe without the throngs and throngs of people you encounter on South Padre. This particular unit was perfect in every way. Its location right across the street from the beach couldn't be better. It's at the end of a road where tranquility and peacefulness envelop you. The large luxurious pool is in a courtyard just steps from the door, as are the adorable play area for kids, the BBQ area, and the splash bucket, which even at our age, was a favorite! Our townhome cottage had a beachy vibe - so tastefully decorated we could have stayed all summer. Comfortable beds, two full bathrooms, and a cozy living room were so clean it felt like home. We found games, books, cable TV in each room, laundry in the unit - what more could we ask for? The place quickly became our favorite, and we will definitely rent here again. Restaurants on the island feature excellent seafood, Mexican/Tex-Mex, Italian, American, and other cuisines. This vacation rental delivered romantic walks on the beach, refreshing morning swims, and some of the best sleep we've had in a long while. Communication from owner/management was superb, friendly, timely, and always helpful.

Beautiful place, a few minor inconveniences
The house was cleaned and beautifully decorated. There were only a few things that could’ve made the place more comfortable: we only had 1 towel each for the entirety of our stay, there is no place outside to wash off from sand after a day at the beach, the AC was set to 74 degrees the entire time (pretty warm) and the fan in the second bedroom has some issues. I think the fan is inverted, it doesn’t blow air down at all (plus it is very loud) The light on the fan would randomly turn off and on throughout the night and wake us. Also, at one point the microwave stopped working. Other than that the place was very cute and my son loves the splash pad on the pool and the pirate ship was a huge hit. Would stay again.

Beautiful and Comfy Space!
We absolutely loved the Big Kahuna! The space was roomy enough for our family plus two, and was just as bright and welcoming as ever. The kitchen is large, with all the cooking items you need to make or bake a family meal. Full size fridge fit everything under the sun, and the ice and water maker is perfectly filtered. The courtyard playground and pool are lovely with a dump bucket that fills with water and dumps into the pool - so fun! Pool was heated during our little chilly stay and was cozy enough for extended play time. We couldn’t have landed in a better spot for our break with our family. Thank you, Padre Escapes! A/C Broken, Great location for kids and pets
Our stay would’ve been great except the air conditioning on the unit did not work. When we arrived at 1am it was 80 degreees in the unit but set at 74. Called first thing in the morn and no call back. Called again at 4pm and the management responded. HVAC repairman left at approx 8pm. Cooked overnight to 75 but never better than that. They brought swamp coolers the next day. We left the next morn. End unit steps onto playground so great for kids and dog area is also right outside the door. Very clean. No beach or pool towels provided so bring your own. No pump hand soap provided, just bars even in restrooms. Cute decor. One exit/entrance is from master bedroom which is kind of annoying but it works. Pool was heated and comfortable. Great kid area/shallow splash pad. I do think if it had not been so hot and muggy inside our unit our stay would have been very nice. Thankfully the weather outside was such that we could step out and cool off occasionally. They ordered new condenser so the air issues will probably be fixed when the part arrives.

Great location
This rental was in an amazing location and the amenities were amazing however upon arrival we noticed the floor was covered in ants. I could not set my little kids down there were so many. The staff was amazing and was there within 5 minutes of me calling to help take care of this issue. The floor could definitely use a deep cleaning. Within five minutes of setting my crawling baby down on the floor his legs were black from how dirty the floor was, although it appeared to be clean. The air condition also stayed at a higher temp than we would like. I don’t think it ever got below 75 degrees in there. Given all of these minor things we will still definitely come back solely because of the location and pool/kid area.

Good location.
Location was really good, with a short drive to the beach. The property in general was well maintained and the kids enjoyed the pool. But, bunk bed room’s fan and light would turn on sporadically. The house also felt a bit dirty. There was an abundance dog hair in the living room.

Perfect location and very nice condo!
We very much enjoyed our stay! We couldn’t have picked a better location and the play scape and pool were just perfect for our little family. Our only issue was the fan/light fixture in the bunk room appeared to be connected to another units remote and it seemed when they wanted their light/fan off it also turned ours off and vice versa. This caused the lights to randomly turn on in our unit at odd times (like 4am) or we weren’t able to have the light on during the daytime because almost immediately after turning our light on, it would turn off...even to the point of me turning it right back on and then turning it off immediately...this went on for about 20 seconds till I gave up and just maneuvered the room in the dark. We ended up just turning the switch off at nighttime so we didn’t run in to the issue of the light turning on in the middle of the night. I hope this issue gets fixed. We’d definitely return to the unit in the future!
